Delta Air Lines is rolling out a redesigned Delta One business class suite, and the headline features are privacy doors, a longer bed and more storage. The next-generation suites will debut in early 2027 on the airline's first Airbus A350-1000 jets. It is the first major redesign of the Delta One suite in almost 10 years, and Delta says it spent two years on the design, drawing on a decade of customer and employee feedback.

Inside each suite, Delta says the bed is longer, at about 6 feet 6 inches, with a pillow-top cushion over the seat and the airline's existing Missoni bedding. Delta's vice president of brand experience, Mauricio Parise, said the company's research found that the lie-flat bed is the main reason customers choose the cabin. The suites also have slimmer walls and full privacy doors to create more usable room, and Delta puts personal space at about 6.5 feet per guest. Smaller touches include a cubby for shoes, a tray for a phone, a hook for eyeglasses, and a control panel inspired by luxury cars that lets passengers adjust the seat by touch. Each suite also has a 24-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging, and Delta says it has added accessibility features for travelers with disabilities.

On the A350-1000, the suites are arranged in a reverse-herringbone layout, with the outer rows facing the windows. The plane will seat 314 passengers, including 53 Delta One suites, which is a third more than on current Delta aircraft. The cabin also has 48 Premium Select seats, 51 Delta Comfort seats and 162 Main Cabin seats. A self-serve snack station at the main entrance will let Delta One passengers help themselves to snacks and soft drinks during the flight. The new seats in Delta Comfort and Main Cabin give an extra inch of legroom and a seatback shelf.

Delta is also adding suites with privacy doors to its A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft for the first time, as part of an upgrade program worth more than $1 billion. The airline expects 90% of its Delta One seats to be suites with sliding doors by 2030. The upgrades come as the major U.S. airlines compete for premium travelers, a segment that has become a steady source of profit. Details come from Airline Geeks, Delta News Hub, and Bloomberg.
